Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a colorful mix of heroes, and a gripping narrative showcasing divine entities, demons, and dark forces increasing in influence within the city.
Warning: Spoilers for the third episode of the new season follow below.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
Episode 3 ended with a huge suspense moment and revealed the first table of adventurers who will branch out from the main group to embark on their separate journey, apart from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (played by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Given a large ensemble, it was obvious from the beginning that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
Hence, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, weaving together the personal journeys before dividing into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Planners, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
Per the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for players who are drawn to a classically intense combat and conflict-driven story mode where diplomatic options are few and far between.
Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might seem out of place, but the actions of the latest installment make it clear why these five characters are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
First, the team knows exactly where to proceed after a brutal first encounter with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing started the narrative’s action—used the foes for his own means, entering the secret base, assaulting Thimble, and taking all the magical artifacts to sell off.
The antagonist then settled his debts and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, beyond the city, with Cyd pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each adventurer has a individual motive to exit the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, seeks revenge.
- The adventurer knows Timmony and advises that it is a dangerous location.
- The warrior and The healer, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute the fighter and instead freed him, have no other options.
- Yet, their reputation as key figures in the powerful family could enable the group enter locations they usually can’t.
- Moreover, Teor swore a life debt to Wicander for his deliverance and will now go with him wherever.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are sought by the rulers that rule Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally too risky:
- Thimble and The character are known criminals.
- The strong figure and The cleric betrayed the powerful family and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by the clan.
This leaves them little choice but to journey toward Timmony in pursuit of Casimir.
What’s Next?
From the latest episode’s follow-up content, we learn that the combat party will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight players to assemble the Explorers and Strategists parties.
Fans can anticipate finding out which characters will be in which group in the season’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on October 24.
